Rights and Responsibilities of Patients

Rights of Patients

1.Right to Fair Treatment

Our hospital treats all hospitalized patients equally, regardless of your gender, race, age, wealth, or status.

2.Right to Respect

All medical staff in our hospital are required to wear name tags or identification badges. If someone is not wearing a name tag or identification badge, you have the right to refuse medical services from them.

3.Right to a Safe Medical Environment for Diagnosis and Care

Our hospital is responsible for ensuring you receive diagnosis and care in a safe medical environment, free from injuries caused by accidents. To maintain your safety, we need you and your family to cooperate with hospital measures to prevent accidents.

4.Right to Understand Medical Procedures and Condition

Our hospital adheres to the "patient-centered" philosophy. During your hospitalization, when our doctors are diagnosing and treating you, they should explain your medical condition, examinations, tests, and other relevant information to you or your family, as well as suggest treatment plans and prognosis. However, you have the right to ultimately decide whether to accept the doctor's recommendations. If you refuse the doctor’s advice, you should clearly understand the consequences of your decision and take responsibility for it. If you have any uncertainties about the medical services provided by our hospital staff, we strongly encourage you to ask other medical personnel for clarification and to participate in the diagnosis and care process. When you need to undergo surgery, our hospital will ask you or your spouse, relatives, or significant others to sign consent forms for surgery and anesthesia. Before signing, the doctor will explain the reasons for the surgery, the success rate, and potential complications and risks. Surgery and anesthesia will only be performed after obtaining consent from you or your spouse, relatives, or significant others. However, in emergency situations, to save a patient's life, our hospital may proceed with surgery according to medical regulations.

5.Right to Have Privacy Protected

The information regarding your medical condition and health obtained during your treatment process will be kept confidential by our hospital in accordance with the law. If you do not wish for visitors to know about your hospitalization, please inform the relevant personnel at the time of admission. Moreover, at the request of your relatives, the hospital may explain your condition to them in a timely manner. If you do not wish certain family members to know about your condition, please notify the nursing station and your attending physician so the hospital can address it accordingly.

6.Right to Decline Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Choose Palliative Care

To protect your right to medical autonomy, our hospital provides the following forms: "Advance Directive for Palliative Care," "Advance Directive for Palliative Care and Life Support," "Consent for Non-Life Support," "Explanation and Consent for Terminating or Withdrawing Life Support for Terminally Ill Patients," "Do Not Resuscitate Consent," "Letter of Appointment for Medical Agent," and "Declaration of Withdrawal of Advance Directive for Palliative Care." These forms allow physicians, respecting the wishes of terminally ill patients with serious injuries or illnesses diagnosed as incurable, and with medical evidence indicating that death is inevitable in the near future, to refrain from aggressive treatment or emergency care and instead provide palliative and supportive care measures that alleviate or eliminate suffering.

7.The Right to Express Organ Donation Wishes

To ensure that finite lives can be transformed into boundless love, our hospital, in accordance with national health policies, provides all inpatients with informational materials on organ donation and an "Organ Donation Consent Form" as a basis for deciding on organ donation, and to allow families to fully understand the patient's wishes.

8.Right to Provide Feedback and Appeals

If you have any comments or complaints regarding the hospital's inpatient services, you may appeal to the hospital.

9.Right to Participate in or Refuse Clinical Trials

As a teaching hospital, our hospital requests your cooperation in relevant teaching activities to promote medical education and cultivate excellent medical personnel. However, you have the right to refuse any examinations, tests, or other activities unrelated to treatment. Your refusal will not affect the service attitude or quality of medical care provided by our medical staff. During ward rounds, interns may be present; if this is inconvenient, please inform the medical staff.

10.Right to Obtain Personal Medical Records

To protect patient privacy, the hospital must properly preserve medical records, which cannot be accessed by anyone. However, when needed, you have the right to obtain photocopies or copies of your personal medical records from the hospital in accordance with regulations.

11.Right to Your Safety

During the diagnosis and treatment process, medical staff will follow standard operating procedures to ensure your safety and provide appropriate protection, preventing harm due to errors in medical care.

Responsibilities of Patients

1.Responsibility to Provide Information

Please proactively and accurately inform medical staff about your health status, past medical history, family medical history, drug allergies, travel history, and any matters related to infectious diseases. Please also inform them if you are currently taking or using any medications not provided by this hospital, and if you have received treatment at other hospitals or clinics.

2.Responsibility to Cooperate with Treatment

Diagnosis can sometimes be difficult, requiring multiple or repeated tests. Medical staff will communicate fully with you. Please cooperate with medical staff in all examinations and medical plans. If you cannot accept the medical plan arranged by medical staff, please inform them of the reasons so that alternative medical methods can be arranged.

3.Responsibility to Respect Others

During your visit or hospitalization, you must abide by hospital access control and infection control measures. Smoking, alcohol, betel nut, and drug use are strictly prohibited in this hospital. In the event of a safety concern, the hospital reserves the right to move your bed for enhanced care and management. Please refrain from loud noises, hawking or selling goods, and bringing pets to the hospital (except guide dogs) to respect the rights of others. IV. Responsibility to Comply with Regulations

Please comply with the National Health Insurance regulations and hospital rules when paying medical-related expenses. Pay only the portion of your medical expenses that you are responsible for. Do not lend your National Health Insurance card to others, and do not request false information or diagnostic certificates from medical staff. When leaving the hospital, please request permission from medical staff and return on time. If you require financial assistance, please contact the hospital's Social Services Office for assistance in assessing matters related to medical expense subsidies.

4.Responsibility to Conserve Medical Resources

Due to the extremely limited nature of medical resources, everyone has a responsibility to use them sparingly. If you have treatment records and imaging files (such as X-rays or CDs) from other medical institutions, please provide them to your doctor for reference to avoid wasting medical resources.
